The Somæntis approach

We get to know you, from the inside out

1.

Using advanced tools in precision medicine, like our Dexa scanner, RMR and VO2Max tests, along with lab results, a comprehensive health history, and physical examination, we learn how your body works, from your genes on up.

We focus on your goals and preferences

2.

Healthy change happens when we’re working with, not against, your likes and preferences. We customize our programs to work for you.

We set your plan and track your progress in real-time

3.

We pull all of this together to create your personalized health dashboard. This benchmarks your current health status and tracks your progress as you embark on your customized health plan.

Your health team trains and guides you

4.

We partner you with a team of Somæntis health experts based on your unique metabolism, plan, and goals. From doctors and therapists to nutritionists and exercise specialists, your health team trains, guides, and cheers you on your road to success.

What is precision medicine?

Precision medicine harnesses the power of your individual data to give you the most effective and personalized care. We analyze a variety of health data, including genetics, biometrics, lab results, and more to create a personalized plan optimized for your body, health status, and goals.

What is lifestyle medicine?

Lifestyle medicine centers on holistic health and chronic disease prevention through evidence-based lifestyle modification. It recognizes that many of our most pervasive and costly diseases, like obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and cancer, revolve around our modern lifestyle choices. Yet those same diseases can be prevented and often reversed.

What is conventional medicine?

Conventional medicine is the practice of treating symptoms and diseases using drugs, surgery, and other interventions. In situations where treatment is required beyond a lifestyle medicine approach, our medical providers, who are trained in conventional medicine, will prescribe medication and supplements and make referrals to relevant specialists using proper evidence-based medical practices.

Eat food, Not too much, Mostly plants...

The 6 pillars of healthy living

Lifestyle medicine is anchored on the 6 pillars of healthy living. At Somæntis, we customize each of the 6 pillars to your needs and incorporate them into your personalized plan. We also partner you with experts in each area, as needed, to teach you the skills and provide support and accountability.

  • Food is not the enemy. Quite the opposite: It’s our biggest tool in the fight against metabolic dysfunction and chronic disease. And we believe food is meant to be loved. We work with you to create a plan that reflects your health goals, culture, dietary preferences, and metabolism.

  • Physical activity is another powerful tool to promote overall well-being and resilience. Our goal is to keep you on the move and help you find pleasure in movement. Recognizing that we all have different likes and abilities, we create a program just for you that’s enjoyable, sustainable, and will protect you from injury.

  • Evidence has shown that poor-quality sleep decreases attention span, performance, mood, daytime caloric burn, and feelings of fullness. It also increases insulin resistance, hunger, and sluggishness. We’ll help you find deep, restful, and refreshing sleep.

  • Stress is a natural reaction. But negative stress, known as distress, is toxic to our bodies. It increases the risk of anxiety, depression, and immune dysfunction. We’ll teach you effective strategies to minimize the negative impact of stress on your health and to bring more peace and calm to your life.

  • Meaningful social connections improve our physical, mental, and emotional health. Research shows that strong social connections are the most important predictors of human happiness and long life. By teaming up with Somaentis, you are joining a community of like-minded people who support you in achieving and sustaining your goals.

  • Any excessive behavior, like drinking alcohol and using tobacco, increases the risk of chronic diseases and death. We’ll work with you to quit unhealthy habits and find a better balance.

Cutting-edge Technologies

The Dexa scanner

Our practice thrives on cutting-edge technologies, which serve as the foundation of your health journey. The Dexa machine, a pinnacle of precision, meticulously evaluates your body composition, including visceral (belly) fat, subcutaneous (pinchable) fat mass, muscle mass, and bone density. It also offers insights into your heart health by giving you a 5-year heart disease risk score. As you progress along your plan, we rescan your body to track changes over time.

Fit3D body scanner

The Fit3D body scanner captures and tracks valuable data like circumference measurements, body composition, posture analysis, basal metabolic rate, balance, and more. We use this scan to track your monthly progress. It is a fast and easy way to compare yourself month to month.

RMR test

Resting metabolic rate (RMR) tells us how many calories you need to maintain your basic functions, like heartbeat, body temperature, brain activity, and more. The RMR also gives us your respiration quotient (RQ) which helps us understand your body's preferred energy source: Are you a carb burner or a fat burner? Knowing this helps us create a nutritional plan that allows you to reach — and keep — your health goals.

VO2Max test

VO2Max reflects your cardiorespiratory fitness and endurance capacity. It also measures the oxygen your body consumes during exercise, reflecting how well your heart can pump blood. Recent studies show that VO2Max is a strong predictor of adverse health outcomes. It’s an important indicator of your level of health and a good way to measure your progress.

ANS Analysis (coming soon)

The ANS Analysis is an evidence-based measurements of the heart rate variability and the autonomic nervous system. The better the heart rate variability, the stronger the influence of the parasympathetic nervous system

Continuous glucose monitor

Freestyle Libre or Dexcom

A continuous glucose monitor (CGM) helps us understand how your body responds to different foods, activities, and exercises by tracking your glucose levels throughout the day and night, 24 hours a day. The goal is to minimize the fluctuation of glucose levels, especially extreme highs and lows.

EEG Headset Scanner

NeuroCatch is EEG headset scanner that measures your brain in action and allows real-time brain function measurements. NeuroCatch measures the brain waves (EEG) of a person performing specific tasks. The brain care journey at Somaentis starts with a NeuroCatch baseline scan. Establishing a personal cognitive health baseline provides an important backdrop to which future changes can be compared and where proactive solutions can be put forward.
