Teens and Teen Athletes
Recognizing the unique needs of teens, our approach incorporates lifestyle interventions to prevent and treat physical and mental health specific to this population. For instance, 50% of mental health disorders develop by age 14. Our Board Certified Lifestyle MD will help teens incorporate evidence-based lifestyle interventions that prevent and treat mood disorders.
In sports performance, childhood and adolescence are when the brain is more adaptable and open to acquiring new skills. Our program capitalizes on this opportunity by teaching young athletes to pursue healthy choices, identify negative behaviors impacting their development, incorporate lifestyle changes for optimal performance, and maintain them throughout their lives.
Our teens and teen athletes program takes a family-centered approach by making all resources available for teens and their parents. The support of family and loved ones is critical to teens' ability to thrive. Science has shown that adults who experience strong connections as youth are 48-66% less likely to develop mental health issues and engage in risky behaviors.
Goals:
Understand the present risks in the teen’s life and strengthen healthy behaviors
Explore each adolescent’s goals and create a plan based on those targets
Educate teens and their families about healthy habits
Screen for any mood disorders and provide support to navigate and overcome mental health issues
Maximize athletic performance while enhancing the teen’s overall well-being
